Leningrad June 5, 1984 Dear Hans Last week I got back from my another mission to Kaliningrad (Königsberg) and concluded reading the ‘Red and Hot’ at last. I’ve learned many interesting and unknown (for me) things form this book. I liked that the book is not just history but also sociological and aesthetical analyses of Soviet society and Soviet music. It’s very original look of the Other. During your visit to Russia I had many troubles with my private life and with my job and practically did not talk with you. I’m very sorry but I hope we saw each other not for the last time. The jazz season in Leningrad is practically over. On May 30 & 31 at the Leningrad Concert hall performed two duos: Gayworonsky (flgh tf, alto horn) – V(b) and Vintskevich (p) – Saarsalu (ts). On June 1 & 2 at the same location played the Vyacheslav Ganelin trio but this time without Chekasin. The third member at the trio was Grigory Talas (g, perc). Ganelin armed [?] two synthesizers besides piano played undoubtedly leading role, but music was too mechanistic and has lack of vividity of the GTCH [Ganelin/Tarasov/Chekasin] performances. Best wishes. Great thanks for the book Yours truly Sergej Uploaded 15 August 2018 Updated 31 August 2018 |
